Having earned two degrees from the University of Toronto and concurrently earning diploma at Sheridan School of Art and Design in studio studies, Ewen taught in the Toronto area for many years. Ewen's work morphed from life drawing/painting and then to abstract work, with the organic forms of nature still being present.
Ewen has lived in Houston area since 2001. Her murals grace many homes in and around Houston. She now resides in the Heights. Jane Ewen has been a member at Archway Gallery since 2015.
Spending most of her time in her Heights Studio, she is also a self-described 'museum rat'. Ewen was a docent at the MFAH and is an active member at the Menil Galleries. Ewen’s strong foundation in art history gives her great confidence to push experimentally with her art.

In A New Light
An Experimental Collaboration Between Artists Jane and Sandy Ewen
Archway artist Jane Ewen and architect/artist daughter Sandy Ewen set out to explore the intangibility of light at its intersection with the painted surface. Their collaborative installation at Archway melded Jane’s large format abstracts with Sandy’s projections of micro-collages. The combined product synthesized its own unique structure, color, and movement while creating an ethereal and enveloping experience of color. Solo works by Jane Ewen were also be presented.

Jane is a member of Archway Gallery, Houston. Archway Gallery is a partnership of regionally and nationally recognized professional artists. It provides a showcase for members to exhibit their work and an environment that fosters artistic freedom and individual control of quality and content. Archway was voted Best Gallery 2017, by Outsmart Magazine. The gallery will be featuring Jane’s art monthly.

Open to the public
Monday to Saturday from 10-6, Sunday 1-5.
Jane has been with Archway Gallery since 2015, and at Galleria Regina prior. She has been active with the VAA, Canal Street, Art Movement and various art groups in the city. Her work is in collections across Canada and the United States, including the Royal Bank of Canada.
